Museum Meeting Room

As a part of the Museum’s 2012 theme, “The Conflict

of 1862, 150 Years Later”, Museum staff and volunteers have created an in-depth lecture and bus tour series to help commemorate the tragic and many times forgotten events of Minnesota’s Civil War.  Local historian Lowell Ueland will be presenting the program that will cover some of the causes that lead up to the war, battle and massacre sites, as well as some of the long range social and political impacts of the war within a war fought right here in McLeod County.  Lowell has spent many years researching and compiling history on the 1862 Conflict, and has put together two booklets that help to give readers an historical and geographic depiction of the war.

Mr. Ueland will also be our tour guide for our upcoming Northern and Southern sites of the Conflict bus trips, so this program is a great primer before heading out to each of the sites.  Check out page 3 for the sites and dates of our bus tours, and we hope to see you on July 15th!
