The McLeod County Historical Society is an organization that qualifies as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c) (3). Consequently, contributions to the McLeod County Historical Society are tax deductible under the Internal Revenue Code regulations and rules that apply to charitable contributions. Donors who contribute $250 or more will receive and acknowledgment letter that meets the Internal Revenue Service requirements for qualifying contributions. We encourage and appreciate any and all contributions. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on contributions to support our mission of connecting with the past, understanding the present and making informed choices about the future by finding, preserving, explaining and sharing McLeod County History. One of the ways you can support the McLeod County Historical Society is to make an unrestricted contribution, which will be used where it is most needed to carry out the mission. Or you can give a contribution that is restricted for specific project or purpose. In this case, the contribution will only be used for the purpose you specify. Another way to help is to make a contribution to the permanently restricted endowment fund of the McLeod County Historical Society. If you choose this alternative, the contribution will be invested in the permanent endowment investment account and only the invested earnings will be used to carry out the mission. The principal amount will remain invested in perpetuity to support the mission of the Society for future years. Gifts
can be in the form of property, cash or future interests. Wills and bequests
are another way to continue giving after you are gone. Bequests can be
either a stated dollar amount or a percentage of an estate. Sample language
that might be used in a will is as follows: We can help you plan for giving while providing for future income to you and your spouse while you are living through annuities or other types of planned giving. This enables you to receive a current tax deduction while assuring you of an annual income as long as you live. Click here for a printable form if you wish to make a contribution to the permanently restricted endowment fund. Mail your check or deed of gift with the appropriate form to McLeod County Historical Society, 380 School Road NW, Hutchinson, MN 55350. If you have questions or wish help in structuring a deferred giving plan, please write the Society at 380 School Road NW, Hutchinson, MN 55350, send and e-mail to info@mcleodhistory.org or call (320) 587-2109.
