Our annual Chili Supper Fundraiser is something to look forward to every Fall, as the weather turns cold, and the chili warms our hearts, but this year will be even more special than most.  This is Mr. McGraw’s 10th Chili Supper Fundraiser Anniversary, and he tells us his last!  I know, I know, I cried, too.  But we have one last year to savior the delectable concoction, and if it’s not all gone, take a bucket home to freeze and enjoy into winter.  It is also the Museum’s opportunity to honor Ron’s dedication to the Museum and shower him with thanks and praise.

This fundraiser has been a key financial cornerstone for the Museum’s general operating fund each year, and replacing it will not be easy.  We recently honored Ronald McGraw at our 2010 Annual Meeting, as our Donor of the Year, an award that was well overdue and much deserved.  We hope that you and your family will make it to our 10th Annual Chili Supper Fundraiser on November 8th, and be sure to thank the Chili Master for the past ten years of terrific chili and outstanding generosity!

As all great things do come to an end, it is now my job to try and fill the very big shoes of the McGraw Chili Supper Fundraiser.  Ron and I spent some time discussing how to pull off this impossible task, and came up with the idea of having the Museum host the McLeod County Annual Chili Cook off!  Although we know Ron’s Chili can’t be replaced, we can sure have a lot of fun trying, and that’s what this new fundraiser will be all about.  Starting next November, the McLeod County public can test their skills to see who has the best chili recipe out there, with each candidate cooking up one roaster full of their best soup.   All our guests can try each contestants batch of chili, casting their vote for the best!  The votes will then be tallied and may the best Chili win!  Of course each winner will have to come back the following year to defend their title, and everyone else will have a full year to perfect theirs and win the honor of  being named the “Best Chili in McLeod County!”       Music by:  Beverly Wangerin on the organ!
